Superman should NOT be remade

I was watching Superman I Special Edition and Superman II the other day, and I dont think this movie needs to be remade.

These movies are classics to me.

Yeah the special effects could be done WAYYYYYYYYYYY better now, but I dont think the quality of the movie would be as good.

Superman I and II had a nice pace to them and werent so bent on being just a big action blockbuster movie like new hero movies X-Men 1 and 2, Daredevil, Blade, Spiderman, etc.

Im official on the DO NOT REMAKE SUPERMAN bandwagon.

P.S. Superman 3 and 4 are total pieces of garbage though.

Re: Superman should NOT be remade

I would like to see a new version, just so they could get it right this time. I hated the Lex Luthor character in the movies, he needs to be the ultimate businessman, Donald Trump to the Nth degree. I also want a big guy to be Superman, they need to clone Clint Walker, that guy was born to play Superman. Ultimately, I'd like to see the new Superman and Batman movies tie into a Justice League movie.

I like the classic Superman movies too. Time has been quite good to them. But since we live this time of remakes, why not? At least we would have more flicks where to pick up the best one...

Thumbs down Re: Superman should NOT be remade

I don't think the Superman movies should be remade either. I have a very "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude when it comes to movies. If the originals are good as they are, there's no reason to swoop in and remake it far worse. Plus I heard they were considering casting Ashton Kutcher in the lead role.

Re: Superman should NOT be remade

XXX I totally disagree. The cold hard businessman Lex Luther is just so common place for todays bad guys and would be totally blah.

The Lex of Superman I and II had that perfect blend of evilness, genius, subtle viciousness ( just made that up), and more importantly a little humour. Gene Hackman played the role BEAUTIFULLY!

A cold, businesslike lex luther would be so cliche, justl ike all the good guys in movies have to be soooo ultra cool with shades and leather now like in Matrix. TOTALLY predictable and boring.

DO NOT REMAKE THESE MOVIES!!!

Re: Superman should NOT be remade

i think if they do, do a movie, it should follow on from Smallville : superman the early years, and keep the cast of that,

because then the re-make would tie in with present superman tv series,

or failing that,

do not have lex as a comedy villian, i argee with xXx that lex needs to be the ultimate buisness man, and that's the way he should be portrayed,

above all, i don't mind if superman is re-made or not, i think it would be nice to see a more modern adaptation, but it is not nessacery,

Re: Superman should NOT be remade

That Superman cartoon that was on a few years ago had Lex perfect. Metropolis was his city, and then Superman showed up and got all the attention. Lex is untouchable, he can do anything he wants, and totally get away with it. Done right, he could be the best villian ever in a movie. At one point, Kevin Spacey was mentioned for the role. He's a good actor, but he doesn't have the right presence for this role, he comes off weak. Billy Zane was another possibility, Zane is cool, I think he has a shot of pulling it off. Even Charlie Sheen was rumored, I like Charlie too, but he's just too little to be Lex.

Spacey as Lex... That could work. He's a capable actor, so I don't think he would fail there. He hasn't shown everything yet. But I don't think he would like to be in that flick. Maybe somebody totally unknown would be the best choice for the role.

What many fail to realize that a new attempt to bring Superman to the silver screen will not be a 'remake' of the old films, but merely another film adaptation of the comics.

superman was a really classic movie when it was first improvised, and i always had a liking to it
making a new one with goddam special effects and computor graphics to make it look like a computor game like they did with star wars really is gay

Hey, I resent that. If anything the Star Wars prequels were too strieght. It didn't have the pinache to be gay.
