Well, I've got my own ideas for an AvP movie, and when I get some time, I am going to sit down at start writing it.. (oh wait, I should be doing that right now since I took today off work!)....
But, I really don't want to give away hints about my ideas...

However, for P. Anderson's movie, my only guideline is... "just make it already!!!!" What's that wait??!!

Re: A Thread For Denmark

Haven't played AvP2 - but my idea for the story:

Opens with a large archealogical dig by some humans on an unknown planet that is supposed to have old ruins of a Pred colony.
They find the bones of some Predators just as another colleague runs in to an egg nest.
They think it the same species but then when their ship's computer finds out what they have found it automatically launches a beacon that heads out of the system.
In the ensuing panic that this causes on the planet, the first human is impregnated - and so it begins.

The same planet, a long while later, is subject to a Predator ritual hunt - whereby they bring some "prey" to the planet and let it become impregnated by the store of eggs - they then hunt the alien that is produced. But they are shocked to discover that there are a large number of aliens already roaming free.

The Predators ignore the relatively pathetic humans that have managed to survive and concentrate on the Aliens.

Then the marines arrive, brought by the beacon that the ship automatically sent out right at the start.

Then all hell breaks loose. Again.

Autechre.... I couldn't help but to notice how anti Predator you seem to be, yet you post quite a bit in these threads. How can you hate P. Anderson? Do you know him personally? Kind of scary, actually, how comeone could hate someone they've never met. I hate people like that

At any rate, I agree... if AvP ends up bad, then H-Wood and all the fans will do a big depressed sigh, and then shout a bit, then it will die down and be forgotten (like Alien: Resurrection)...

If AvP if GREAT (and I am sure that it will be), then we'll be doing this same exact discussion over AvP 2 in another year.

*cough* *splutter*
??? eh?
How can you possibly think AR is bad?
It had its weaknesses (don't all films?) but was a good film well filmed.
If AvP is on a par with AR then I for one will enjoy it immensely!

Re: A Thread For Denmark

Admittedly it was a different film to the rest of the series - but why is it so bad? It had suspense, it had horror, it had action, it had aliens, it had reasonable acting, good direction and the production values were great. Okay, the ending ruined it slightly but the ideas of the film were excellent - the idea that man can be arrogant enough to believe they can ever control such a creature - the idea of genetic cloning from scraps of DNA (highlighted by Ripleys 1 thru' 7) - the idea of ultimately mixing the two races to create two entirely different mixed beings - a film of truly horrific ideas in the truest sense.

Throughout the series the Alien is always taking on elements of the DNA of the host, but never have we seen it the other way round, nor with so much genetic cross-over.
I may be in a minority, but I liked it. It isn't my favourite of the 4 but is still an enjoyable film to watch.

Please tell me why you don't like it....

The original Alien Vs. Predator script that was tossed around by Fox 10 years ago, written by Peter Briggs, was based on the book Alien Vs. Predator: Prey and the first comic series of Alien Vs. Predator, which is what the novel Prey was based upon.

The script was eventually scrapped by Fox. Although I agree very much that Prey was an excellent novel, and I too think that it would translate well into a film, I do actually agree with Fox for axing the script.

I think that with the planned casting/directing/producing, the Alien Vs. Predator script that was created back then would have been turned into a cheap B-rate type flick with a tremendous Japanese feel of Godzilla to it ( because H-Wood seems to think that Alien Vs. Predator must be on the same level as Godzilla Vs. Mothra).

Regardless of how much I LOVED Prey, I am glad that the AvP that is going to be made is not based on this idea. Hopefully, Anderson will create a script that is suspensful, thrilling, and shares the taunting, terrifying wonders of the Yautja and the horrific, heart-pounding rush that only the aliens can provide.

Post My Guidlines

The AvP film should be based on either AvP2 or the Aliens vs. Predator: Prey comics and novels. I pretty much agree with Predn from then on.
